The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) alliance on Wednesday released a list of 19 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.
The released list reveals that Dushyant Chautala will once again contest from Uchana in Jind district, while Digvijay Chautala will be in the race from the Dabwali constituency in Sirsa district.

According to The Indian Express report, sources within the JJP have suggested that Naina Chautala, the sitting Bhadra MLA and mother of Dushyant and Digvijay, is unlikely to run in the upcoming elections. She is one of the three MLAs who stayed with the JJP after seven others switched to different parties.

Haryana Election 2024: BJP names 67 candidates in first list
The Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), an ally of the JJP and a first-time contender in the Haryana Assembly elections, has announced four candidates: Ashok Kashyap (Jagadhari), Sohel (Sadhaura), Vinesh Gurjar (Sohna), and Harit Bainsla (Palwal). Bhim Army founder Chandrashekhar Azad, who established the Azad Samaj Party (ASP), is looking to establish a stronger presence for his party beyond Uttar Pradesh.

In the 2019 Assembly elections, Dushyant had defeated Prem Lata, the wife of former Union minister Birender Singh, who was then a BJP candidate, in the Uchana constituency. Now, with Birender Singh switching to the Congress, his son Brijendra Singh, a former MP from Hisar, is likely to contest the seat on behalf of the party.
The Dabwali constituency, where Dushyant has been fielded, could witness a family feud between the Chautalas. In the 2019 election, Dushyant’s uncle Aditya Devi Lal lost to Congress’s Amit Sihag, whose father Dr K V Singh is Ajay Chautala’s uncle – the father of Dushyant and Digvijay. Both the Congress and BJP are likely to repeat their 2019 candidates in the seat.

Among the candidates fielded by Azad’s party, only Vinesh Gurjar, 39, running in Sohna, is a familiar name. He is also the senior state vice-president of the JJP. Gurjar told The Indian Express that his candidacy comes from a “mutual understanding” between the JJP and the ASP.
In March, the BJP ended its alliance with the JJP. Since then, seven JJP MLAs have left the party to join either Congress or BJP. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the JJP received only 0.87 percent of the votes, despite contesting all 10 parliamentary seats in Haryana, with all its candidates losing their security deposits.
